"I understand
both the busy-ness of daily life and the intimidation that the
average man or woman feels in the face of this overwhelming
cultural challenge. But we need to work together on this now."
-- Dr. James Dobson
IS YOUR CHURCH
READY TO TAKE A STAND?
Overview
Why is it that the only group in this country that has
limited free speech is the church?
We think it's time for all churches and all Americans who
are committed to
Judeo-Christian values to lock arms and work together
to restore the vital connection between church and state.
Today this connection has been deeply eroded. Many of
the core principles that this nation was founded upon have
been reversed 180 degrees by modern interpretations of the
constitution and the voice of non-traditional values. It
is as if the church is the only group which cannot have a seat
at the tables of public debate and political process.
Those who fear the churches input shout out "separation of
church and state."
The
latest example of this is the legalization of same sex
marriage... an inconceivable notion for thousands of
years. Yet it is happening today because those who
treasure and respect
Judeo-Christian values have somehow had their voice
silenced in the public debate and legislative process.
Their voice was silenced by the legal constraints imposed
through separation of church and state.
Letting our voice be heard is a fundamental right of every American.
Likewise, it's the fundamental responsibility of
every Christian to understand when our nation is straying
from traditional Judeo-Christian values and do something about it! Our voice is
heard when we understand issues like
same sex marriage from a social as well as biblical
perspective. Armed with this knowledge, we can take
action. Appropriate actions include
contacting our senators and
legislators, and
voting our values in the voting booth. Another
very important action is sharing what you know with
humility around the water cooler at work and at the
neighborhood barbeque.
As leaders in the community, Pastors should prayerfully
consider preaching on issues from a biblical perspective.
Americans need to be educated spiritually on these issues
to balance what they hear in the media. We have
special
resources for pastors available on this website.
This
website, WeVoteValues.com, is dedicated to mobilizing
Christians and churches of all denominations to become a
source of education and inspiration in their respective
communities and spheres of influence. It is our goal
to provide churches with the
tools and the knowledge they need to rediscover their voice
in the legislative process and in the voting booth.
Our
primary means of communication with churches is through
Simulcasts to be hosted at churches around the country.
The next one is
Sept 19th.
